URS – Why is it Important?

The User Requirement Specifications (URS) is used as the road map for the design and details the requirements for project deliverables.

This may be provided by the client, or may be derived from an Owner’s Project Requirements (OPR).

The URS is used in the project design from Pre-Design, Schematic Design, Design Development and Construction Documents.

The Commissioning Process uses the URS as the reference point for the design, and will be used in the process of verifying, and documenting that the facility and all of it’s systems and assemblies are being planned, designed, installed, tested, operated and maintained to meet the URS.
